The Center for Reproductive Rights uses the power of law to advance reproductive rights as fundamental human rights around the world. We envision a world where every person participates with dignity as an equal member of society, regardless of gender.
Where every woman is free to decide whether or when to have children and whether to get married; where access to quality reproductive health care is guaranteed; and where every woman can make these decisions free from coercion or discrimination.

We have played a key role in securing legal victories in the U.S., Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, and Eastern Europe on issues including access to life-saving obstetrics care, contraception, safe abortion services, and comprehensive sexuality information, as well as the prevention of forced sterilization, child marriage, and female genital mutilation. We have brought groundbreaking cases before national courts, U.N. Committees, and regional human rights bodies; built the legal capacity of women’s rights advocates in more than 65 countries; and established top-flight legal networks around the world. The Center has argued all major abortion rights cases before the U.S. Supreme Court since Roe v. Wade and played a key role in strengthening legal protections for abortion rights around the world, including the recent decriminalization of abortion in Colombia. Built into our program work and planning is engaging private sector law firms to work with us on litigation, legal research, human rights advocacy, and more.
