Dharamsala Animal Rescue
Mission Statement
Our mission is to create a better world for animals and people by ending the human/street dog conflict.
.
We provide several key programs to achieve our goals: spay/neuter, rabies vaccination, rescue and adoption, and community outreach/education for rabies safety and compassion.
Why Donate to Dharamsala Animal Rescue?
India has the highest number of stray dogs globally, estimated at 60 million.
Every 30 minutes, one person dies of rabies, with 95% of cases stemming from dog bites, and 40% affecting underprivileged children.
There is a lack of education on safe interaction with stray dogs, as children are often taught to throw rocks and run – a counterproductive approach to avoiding bites.
Veterinary care is insufficient in rural regions.
The government lacks focus and does not provide funding to address the problem, resulting in the ongoing human-stray dog conflict.
Giving to charities is still not the norm in India
The conflict results in an uncountable number of dogs left to endure disease, injuries, cancer, fractures from accidents, abuse, apathy, and neglect each year.
