Christians Against Poverty New Zealand
Mission Statement
Christians Against Poverty’s mission is to help end money chaos in New Zealand. Christians Against Poverty (CAP) works in partnership with local churches throughout New Zealand, walking alongside people in need and providing support through two free services – Debt Help, for people in unmanageable debt, and CAP Money, a three-session money management course.
Why Donate to Christians Against Poverty New Zealand?
Every year, Christians Against Poverty meets face-to-face with nearly 1,000 New Zealand households who are trapped in a cycle of unmanageable debt. They’re skipping meals, struggling to provide for children’s school needs, fearful of answering the phone, and isolated from loved ones because of the pressure of unmanageable debt. With CAP’s free support in place, people work their way out of debt and poverty. Families build financial resilience and find hope, as they strengthen their relationships with money – and with themselves, others and God.
Here’s what your donation will provide:
1. A caring CAP first responder when a person calls for help.
2. An emergency food parcel, or other practical assistance as needed.
3. A budget prioritizing essentials like food, rent and power.
4. Long-term CAP support – expertise & advocacy as people work towards freedom from unmanageable debt.
5. A hands-on journey of learning to budget and save, which helps build life-changing financial habits.
6. An introduction to a loving church family, to walk alongside each person and provide practical frontline support as needed.
