Your support ensures our youth leadership development program, IncluCity can have events such as “Culture Night” where students create a presentation to give others a better understanding of their culture, identity and what it is like to live in that identity.
In addition to amazing stories and skits about rich cultural practices and traditions, one group of students created a mock graduation ceremony. The “valedictorian” gave the most moving speech about her struggles navigating school as the child of immigrants. And most importantly, she shared how hard her family has worked for her success and getting her to the place she is today.
She said, “in real life” she would never be the school’s commencement speaker. She was so emotional that IncluCity gave her a chance to celebrate with others how proud she is of herself and her family’s journey.
