The Southern California wildfires, which ignited on January 7, 2025, are currently raging across the Los Angeles metropolitan area and surrounding regions. These fires are being driven by a combination of dangerous conditions, including hurricane-force Santa Ana winds, extremely low humidity, and prolonged drought. These conditions have created an environment ripe for rapid fire spread.

Multi residents have lost their lives and tens of thousands have been forced to evacuate their homes. There has been significant structural damage to homes and businesses and the heavy traffic caused by mass evacuations has created significant challenges for emergency responders, with abandoned vehicles obstructing roadways and hindering access to affected areas.

How you can make an impact

The Giving Block has set up an emergency response fundraiser to support charitable organizations working in the Greater Los Angeles Metro Area to assist with humanitarian and disaster relief efforts. Consider making a donation to the charities on-the-ground providing emergency medical care, food, shelter, and other forms of aid to those impacted.

Frequently Asked Questions

How will my donation to the participating charities be matched?
Donations through The Giving Block of any supported type (e.g. crypto, stock, DAF grant, or card) to charitable organizations in good standing participating in the Los Angeles fire response as shown on The Giving Block Los Angeles Fire Response campaign webpage (“participating charities”) will be matched 1:1 until the $1,000,000 (one million dollar) match has been exhausted.
Is there a limit on the match dollars for each participating charity?
Yes. Shift4 CEO Jared Issacman will match donations up to $100,000 for an individual participating charity to ensure that the largest number of organizations on the ground in Los Angeles are able to benefit from the match.
Will donations be accepted after the match level has been achieved?
Yes. After the $1,000,000 match has been met, additional donations will continue to be accepted by the participating charities through The Giving Block but those donations will not be eligible for the match.
Over what period of time will donations be matched?
Donations made to participating charities starting on January 07, 2025, and continuing until either the match limit has been reached or the match campaign has been earlier terminated at The Giving Block’s discretion.
