Air Force Aid Society

Air Force Aid Society

Mission Statement

Incorporated in 1942, the Air Force Aid Society (AFAS) is an official charity of the U.S. Air Force (USAF) and the U.S. Space Force (USSF). AFAS strives to meet the unique needs of the Total Force and their families, as well as Air Force widows and widowers. Older than the USAF itself, AFAS traces its roots back to the great five-star general Henry “Hap” and Mrs. Bee Arnold. The Arnolds envisioned an organization that embodied the ideal of Airmen helping Airmen, which still drives our mission today. We recently expanded our mission to include support for U.S. Space Force personnel and their families following the establishment of this eight-service branch in December 2019.

AFAS provides emergency financial assistance, disaster relief, educational support, and quality-of-life programs for Airmen, Guardians, and their families. AFAS executes its mission in the following ways:

Emergency Financial Assistance is provided to Air Force and Space Force members and their dependents to meet immediate needs in an emergency when personal resources are not available. AFAS provides grants and/or interest-free loans depending on the situation. Last year alone, the Society provided $13.5 million in direct assistance to 19,000 Airmen, Guardians, retirees, National Guard, Reservists, and their families.

The AFAS serves a diverse demographics on active duty, as well as retirees, guard, reserve, and their families. The Air Force members’ ethnic breakdown is 71% white, 15% African American, 4.3% Asian, 4.9% Hispanic/Latino, and 2% Native American/Hawaiian.

The Air Force Aid Society’s mission is to provide emergency financial assistance, disaster relief, educational support, and quality-of-life programs (including food grants) for Airmen, Guardians, and their families.

Why Donate Crypto to Air Force Aid Society?

Support Airmen, Guardians, and their families, while eliminating the capital gains tax

Save on your Taxes by Donating Crypto

Why Donate Crypto Directly? Taxes!

There’s a reason high net worth individuals tend to donate property instead of cash. Donating cryptocurrency directly to a 501c3 nonprofit is more tax efficient and can save you money.

The IRS classifies cryptocurrency as property for tax purposes which means it is typically the most tax efficient way to support your favorite cause. When donating crypto, you receive a tax deduction for the fair market value of the crypto, and you avoid the capital gains tax you would have incurred if you had sold the crypto and then made a donation. That means you’re able to donate more, as well as deduct more on your tax return. The difference? Sometimes more than 30%.

If you provide an email, you will automatically receive a tax receipt after donating.
