Mission Statement
The mission of American Friends of Leket Israel is to support the rescue of fresh, surplus food to tens of thousands of Israelis in need, of all backgrounds, each week.
Why Donate to American Friends of Leket Israel?
Leket Israel, Israel’s National Food Bank and largest food rescue organization annually provides 40,000,000+ lbs. of excess fresh produce and hot meat meals to hundreds of thousands of Israelis in need per week, of all backgrounds (the elderly including Holocaust survivors, the working poor, teens and children at risk and many more). The surplus food is “rescued” from hundreds of farmers, corporate cafeterias, hotels and the IDF, (the food, worth millions of dollars, would otherwise be destroyed or left to rot in a landfill) and delivered, free of charge, to 200,000 struggling Israelis through Leket Israel’s 200+ non-profit partners. Leket Israel is apolitical and is the only organization rescuing food en masse for Israelis in need. The organization hosts 50,000 volunteers from around the world each year.
Each USD donation of $1 provides 6 lbs. of fresh food. Your donation makes it possible to rescue and deliver fresh food to struggling Israelis, including hundreds of families in need, the elderly, the newly unemployed and many more.
