For over five decades, BRC has been developing real solutions to addressing homelessness in New York City. From piloting the first Safe Haven shelter to our HomeStretch Housing model, BRC innovations are becoming standard operating procedure for homeless services providers in New York and beyond.

Last year, BRC helped 12,471 individuals find their path to healing, transformation, and home through integrated, holistic programs, and we’re not stopping there. As long as there are New Yorkers experiencing homelessness, BRC will continue innovating, growing, and creating opportunities for health and self-sufficiency.
BRC is one of New York City’s largest, most experienced and most successful providers of housing and services for individuals experiencing homelessness. Founded in 1971 by a group of recovering alcoholics living in poverty in the Bowery’s infamous flophouses, BRC has grown significantly since our grassroots beginning and now serves nearly 13,000 individuals each year, operating more than 30 programs throughout New York City with an annual budget of over $240 million. Our robust continuum of housing and services includes over 4,000 units of transitional and permanent housing; outreach and case management programs; and substance use and medical services. Together, these programs offer a caring and effective path from homelessness to home, providing comprehensive services that guide everyone on their unique journey.
