Mission Statement
The urgent mission of the Foundation Fighting Blindness is to drive the research that will provide preventions, treatments and cures for people affected by retinitis pigmentosa, Usher syndrome, Stargardt disease, Leber congenital amaurosis, age-related macular degeneration, and the spectrum of retinal degenerative diseases.

We accomplish this by: • Funding cutting-edge science in gene therapy, stem cell research, and emerging technologies — all aimed at saving and restoring sight. • Investing in clinical trials, connecting patients with resources, and bringing together researchers and industry leaders so that breakthroughs in the lab can translate into real treatments, faster. The Foundation has helped, in part, to fund and advance 50+ clinical trials for potential treatments. Last year, we funded 104 grants globally, across 92 institutions, supporting 133 investigators.
