GDCDB was founded to address the shocking reality that SNAP and WIC funds cannot be used to purchase diapers.

As the largest diaper bank in the Greater DC region and the third largest nationwide, GDCDB provides essential baby and hygiene products—diapers, formula, baby food, period products, and more—across DC, Maryland, and Virginia, reaching households in 375 zip codes.

Since our founding in 2010, we have distributed over 50 million diapers.

Today, we work with 87 partners to annually serve 40,000 babies with more than 11 million diapers through our Diaper Distribution program. We also distribute nearly $1 million worth of other essential products each year through our Baby Pantry and Nursery Project Programs. Our programs uniquely meet the needs of vulnerable families in Greater DC, where no other local organization offers diapers and hygiene items at our scale.

Your support will directly impact babies and families facing systemic challenges in our region and act as a force multiplier. With a robust network of diaper distribution partners, we leverage diapers as a gateway to address broader issues like food insecurity, healthcare access, and housing stability within our most vulnerable communities. Our strong relationships with distribution partners embedded in these neighborhoods enable us to provide essential products at no cost to families, ensuring their most basic needs are met.

Nearly 94% of the families we serve are families of color, and 98% earn below $50,000 annually. Many face the difficult choice between paying for food, utilities, or diapers, making our resources vital for their well-being. Additionally, 72% report not having enough diapers to meet their baby’s needs for at least eight days each month. While most of our distributed products, like diapers and wipes, are for infants and toddlers, we also provide essentials for teens and adults, including adult diapers and menstrual hygiene products.

Thanks to our relationships with wholesalers and corporate donors, we stretch every dollar you contribute even further. For every dollar donated, we can purchase two diapers, maximizing the impact of your generosity.
