The Mammoth Site of Hot Springs, South Dakota, Inc.

Mission Statement

Our mission is the preservation, research, and interpretation of The Mammoth Site of Hot Springs, South Dakota, and the development of a broad understanding of the Ice Age record across a global framework. We are recognized as the world's leading research and educational facility housing the largest concentration of Columbian mammoths in-situ (left in place) found anywhere in the world. We are continuously sharing the science of these paleontologic findings through STEAM classes, the museum with a live dig site, Exhibit Halls, research facilities, and interactive displays.

Why Donate to The Mammoth Site of Hot Springs, South Dakota, Inc. ?

Because of you, we are still digging (50 years), researching (from giant sloths to new fossil species), educating (STEAM classes, family dig classes, atlatl throwing, and more), and preserving the Ice Age environment of The Mammoth Site of Hot Springs. Imagine the next young person to visit becoming passionate about science! Your tax-deductible gifts make it possible for visitors, members, and staff to create, explore, and learn about the Ice Age and the treasures discovered here since 1974.
