Why Donate to Stone Soup Cafe, Inc.?

The Stone Soup Café has been open for pickup and delivery of meals throughout the COVID crisis. We have moved quickly to respond to the need in our community by creating this new model of our meal. We are working with other community agencies to close the gaps in services by providing the tools for our neighbors to identify their needs and find ways to fill those needs with real tangible items, especially food.

We are feeding more people than ever with our delivery model. As of December 2020, over 400 meals are distributed every Saturday. We are a pay-what-you-can café and this is your opportunity to Pay It Forward! Pay for your meals and support our mission by paying for other peoples’ meals too! Your help during this time is greatly needed and appreciated.

As the Giving Tuesday Team recently wrote: “We may need to stop shaking hands, but we can still reach out, substantively and emotionally. Our ability to give help and hope gives us agency, dispelling feelings of powerlessness. It makes us measurably happier, dispelling feelings of despair. It reminds us we can make a meaningful impact if we are intentional.”

Here at the Stone Soup Café, we are being intentional! We know that now more than ever people need food that is good for their body and soul. We know that food insecurity is a real threat to the health and well-being of our community, especially during this time. We know that COVID 19 has no boundaries for who gets infected AND we know that poor and low wealth people are being affected more than others in this epidemic. Those community members have no reserves to purchase supplies for the duration, some may not even have a day’s worth of needed supplies on hand. That’s why we choose not to close during this time of the COVID-19 crisis. We are working even harder to make access to food easier for our community.
