Mission Statement
For more than 25 years, Teaching Matters has supported New York City (NYC) public schools serving primarily low-income, Black, Latinx and PreK-12 students. We are a nationally recognized professional learning organization dedicated to increasing teacher effectiveness, a critical factor in student success. Our mission is to close the opportunity gap of a radically unequal education system. We envision a nation where every student has equitable access to excellent teaching, regardless of zip code.

Teaching Matters, like the educators and students we serve, is in the throes of a positive transformation, and this is a great opportunity for those passionate about the power of education to make a real and lasting difference! After 20+ months of disrupted learning, our team and communities have returned to schools in-person with new tools, materials and systems to assess and address the long-term consequences of unfinished learning due to the pandemic and the stress of national unrest.
