Trees for the Future

Mission Statement

Trees for the Future partners with farmers to restore their land and unlock prosperity.

Lasting change is farmer-led. Founded in 1989, Trees for the Future (TREES) is a nonprofit that partners with farmers in Africa to transform their degraded land into thriving farms. Using regenerative farming practices, farmers plant diverse crops that restore soil, increase food variety, and generate income for their families. TREES and partner farmers have restored more than 100,000 acres of land and improved access to food for more than 475,000 people so far.

As a UN World Restoration Flagship, TREES is recognized as one of the best large-scale ecosystem restoration efforts on the planet. The prestigious Flagship award is part of an effort by the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration to ensure that measurable progress is made on the UN’s environmental goals by 2030.
