The Wheen Bee Foundation is Australia’s leading not-for-profit charity dedicated to addressing national and global threats to bees. The Foundation supports research, drives practice change and raises awareness of the vital role that bees and other insect pollinators play in maintaining ecosystem health, biodiversity and food security. Founded in 2009 by Gretchen Wheen, a respected queen bee breeder and passionate advocate for pollinators, the Foundation has grown to become a trusted industry partner and a leader in environmental advocacy and research. The Foundation leads more than 20 programs and initiatives that promote awareness of the importance of bees and other pollinators while raising funds for vital research. One leading initiative is the Australian Pollination Strategy, which is delivering the first informed, strategic and coordinated approach to securing Australia’s pollination supply. Another key program is the Powerful Pollinators Planting Guides program which produces regional guides with information on plant selection and management to increase the number and diversity of insect pollinators in farm and urban landscapes.
