About Avalanche

Avalanche is a layer one blockchain that serves as a platform for decentralized applications (aka dApps) and custom, layer two blockchain networks. Avalanche’s transaction output of up to 6,500 transactions per second is higher than many blockchains, including Ethereum and Polkadot. Its mainnet launched in 2020.

How AVAX Works

As the native token of the Avalanche blockchain network, AVAX can be used to secure the blockchain and pay transaction processing fees on the network. It also functions as a unit of account across the custom blockchains in the Avalanche network. The total supply of AVAX is 720 million.

AVAX can be purchased from numerous leading cryptocurrency exchanges.
