The Axie Infinity Shards (AXS) is the governance token of the Axie Infinity gaming universe. Holders of AXS can vote on the direction of the game’s development, including support for updates and directing the usage of the game’s treasury. Axie Infinity will soon allow gamers to stake their AXS tokens for rewards and use AXS in the game’s native marketplace. AXS is available for purchase, sale and trade on several crypto exchanges.

In 2022, the Yield Guid Games community raised more than $1 Million to assist people impacted by typhoon Odette in the Philippines. Jeffrey “Jihoz” Zirlin, co-founder of Axie Infinity, donated 1,000 AXS ($55,400) to the fund, saying, “As we work together to help our brothers and sisters in the Philippines recover and rebuild, we remember that this is what our community is about.”
