Together with our partner, OBLF India, our efforts are grounded in the peri-urban and rural regions around Bangalore, Karnataka, where opportunity is scarce but potential is limitless.

We operate on a simple, powerful belief: every child deserves the chance to learn—and every community has the power to lead its own transformation. 

For over 15 years, OBLF has partnered with rural and peri-urban government schools in Karnataka to address one of the biggest barriers to quality education: the shortage of trained and locally-rooted educators. We recruit, train, and mentor women from rural communities to become educators, creating stronger schools while generating dignified livelihood opportunities.

Our Education program, Elevate, improves foundational literacy and English-language learning for children in government schools. Through teacher training, classroom support, English learning interventions, and community engagement, children build critical reading, speaking, and learning skills that prepare them for future success.

Our Training & Skilling program, Kickstart, equips rural women with training, mentorship, and employment opportunities as community educators. By developing local women leaders, the program strengthens government schools while increasing economic independence and participation in community development.

Our Impact
—10,700 children reached during the 2025- 26 academic year across 3 districts in Karnataka. 
—135 trained educators supporting learning in government schools during the 2025-26 academic year.
—500 rural women have received training and livelihood opportunities over the 15 years of implementation.
—Thousands of families have benefited through stronger schools, empowered women, and improved educational outcomes.
