1 in 20 children worldwide faces a birth defect or genetic disease like cancer, cystic fibrosis, or deadly metabolic disorders. Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI) is dedicated to finding treatments and cures, so every child has the opportunity for a healthy start to life. We pioneered microsurgery, immunisations against lethal childhood illnesses and care for premature babies, all of which has improved the lives of countless Australian children over the last 65 years. Today, our world-leading research in areas such as cancer, stem cells, embryology, and gene therapy is helping to make the incurable, curable.
