Danish Refugee Council

Mission Statement

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading international NGO – one of the few with a specific expertise in forced displacement. Our 7,500 employees work in 40 countries, protecting, advocating, and building sustainable futures for refugees, displaced people, and their host communities.

Shelter and protection are paramount to people who have lost their homes, leaving everything behind. Forcibly displaced people need a place to feel safe and warm, where they can take a deep breath and make sense of their new circumstances – a place to call home. That is why we always seek to provide shelter and protection as our first response in a displacement crisis.

Why Donate to Danish Refugee Council?

DRC uses innovative analytical software to forecast large-scale forced displacement, allowing us to respond earlier and more efficiently to crises as they develop. The software analyses many factors, such as economy, conflict intensity, climate, and governance. These forecasts have already shown a high degree of accuracy when tested in Afghanistan and Myanmar, and thus represent a potential game-changer for the humanitarian sector and the displaced people we serve.

With a thorough, transparent, and innovative approach to humanitarian response, DRC is regularly recognized as among the world’s best international NGOs. We have served as a trusted partner to the United Nations for many years, and watchdog group NGO Advisor named us the 4th best NGO globally.
