Our Purpose Our purpose is: (a) To promote and encourage the preservation and operation of World War II and other such aircraft that are representative of military aviation operations, and (b) to educate its members and other interested persons in methods of safe operation and maintenance of World War II and other such aircraft that are representative of military aviation operations. Our Goals It is our aim, and our motto, to “keep ’em flying.” Most of the warbirds we see at air shows and other gatherings are owned by individuals and museums. It is the determination to fly these high performance airplanes, combined with the desire for preserving a piece of our heritage, that makes these owners want to display these magnificent machines. Unlike going to a museum and merely viewing these aircraft, one can now see, hear, feel and even smell what it was like to fly and maintain the birds when they were working for a living. Our Services What started out as a club for World War II fighter owners has now blossomed into an organization whose members own and fly the whole gamut of ex-military aircraft — from the old biplanes, trainers, fighters, bombers, and liaisons of World War II to the early jets of the Korean War era to the aircraft of the Vietnam War. Even foreign aircraft are not left out. Former adversary’s warbirds are now highly prized airplanes.
Why Your Support Matters Maintaining and flying warbird aircraft is incredibly challenging. These aircraft are often over 75 years old, and restoring or operating them demands rare parts, skilled craftsmanship, specialized knowledge, and rigorous safety compliance. Every flight you see at an airshow represents countless hours of work behind the scenes — and substantial financial investment. Warbird owners and restorers are passionate, but many operate on limited budgets. That’s where EAA Warbirds of America comes in. As a division of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) and a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, your donations to Warbirds of America are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. Your support allows us to: Promote safety by developing training materials and operational standards Preserve history by keeping aircraft flying and sharing their stories at airshows and community events Support restorers and owners through educational programs, technical assistance, and grants Advocate on behalf of warbird operators by working directly with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to reduce burdensome regulations and ensure continued access to the skies Inspire future generations by educating young people about aviation, engineering, and history through warbird outreach Build and maintain facilities in the Warbirds area at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, enhancing the visitor experience and ensuring these incredible aircraft have a permanent, prominent place to be seen, celebrated, and appreciated When you donate to Warbirds of America, you're not just giving to an organization — you're investing in the preservation of freedom, history, and aviation heritage.
