Free Arts NYC
Mission Statement
Free Arts NYC empowers youth from underserved communities through art and mentoring programs to develop their creativity, confidence, and skills to succeed.
Since its inception in 1997, Free Arts NYC has strived to level the playing field and create equity in the creative space by providing high-quality arts and mentorship programs to the next generation. Free Arts NYC partners with over 40 public and charter schools, community centers, and transitional housing facilities to provide free arts programming to the youth of New York City.
The Free Arts Day Program pairs children ages 6-12, with a volunteer for an afternoon of art-making and mini mentoring helping inspire children through creativity and 1:1 support. The Teen Arts Program follows an in-depth, long term mentoring model for young people ages 13-21 who are interested in exploring the arts academically or professionally. Program opportunities include portfolio development, artist studio visits, creative company visits and paid internships.
