Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide homes, health, and happiness to Oakland’s animals in need. Since our founding in 2005, our primary focus has been to fund programs and activities at Oakland Animal Services that improve services to the people and animals of Oakland beyond the typical expectations of a municipal, open admission shelter.
Why Donate to FRIENDS OF OAKLAND ANIMAL SERVICES ?
Friends of Oakland Animal Services (FOAS) funds lifesaving programs at Oakland Animal Services (OAS), the animal shelter for the City of Oakland, CA, including foster and adoption, that have increased the percent of animals saved annually from 82% in 2020 to over 94% today, resulting in triple the adoption rate, more animals in foster homes than in the shelter and 2,200 more dogs and cats saved. These programs are impactful and support the meaningful involvement of over 2,000 shelter and foster volunteers.
