Turning unpaid struggles into earned hope: Empowering rural girls and mothers through digital skills

Mission Statement
Girls Tech Ventures’ mission is to bridge the gender digital divide through Education, Health, and Entrepreneurship.
GTV, founded in 2021 by Dativah Mukamusonera, emerged when COVID-19 exposed the deep exclusion of rural girls, heightening GBV and digital economy dependence and creating a gap between rural and urban where more than 70% of women live. Means that women and girls were left out, their business burnt and their healthy and rights abused.
Dativah, the founder of GTV, shares the same story with many rural marginalized girls, driven by the conviction that no girl’s dream should be silenced, “I have lived similar life and I experience their pain”.
This donation aim to scale to 18,000 rural girls, envisioning to establish a Tech-Savvy & Coding Academy. A place right in in the heart of her village which will create opportunities, reducing distance, where girls will no longer be walking 60 kilometers away to seek digital services. More than 60% of the targeted beneficiaries are teen mothers. Therefore, the donations will create jobs and integrate day care and nutrition of the babies as well as access to SRHR for their rights to thrive in digital economy.
Despite Rwanda’s rapid advances in ICT and government-led policies toward a digital economy, rural communities, especially women and girls—remain significantly excluded from digital participation, more than 70% of rural housewives, serves more than 40 hours a week, unpaid services in rural communities.
Today, only 4.8% girls have access to internet in rural. That means more than 950,000 girls are growing up disconnected from the technologies shaping our future every year. Girls Tech Ventures commitment to establish Girls Tech savvy and Coding Academy in rural is bold and inspiring, give today to support the idea. We aim to equip more than 18,000 girls every year, to thrive in the digital economy by 2028”.
