Mission Statement
The High Desert Museum in Bend, Oregon is the only institution in the nation dedicated to the exploration of the High Desert region. Through art, cultures, history, wildlife and science, it tells the stories of the 11-state Intermountain West.
Why Donate to High Desert Museum?
Celebrating its 40th year in 2022, the High Desert Museum aims to spark wonder and discovery as a portal to learning. It does so through dynamic, permanent and changing exhibitions, close-up encounters with wildlife and meaningful programs, both in-person and in the virtual world. That could mean immersion in the art of Burning Man, the experience of a raptor swooping right overhead or the appreciation of historical and contemporary Indigenous perspectives. The Museum is a Smithsonian Affiliate and, in recognition of its exceptional work, in 2021 was one of three in the nation awarded the National Medal for Museum and Library Services, the nation’s highest honor.
