Mission Statement
Infinite Family was established in the early years of South Africa’s democracy to help its most marginalised teens create successful and productive futures. For most young Black South Africans, just at the time they need to be developing habits and skills that will make them productive and self-reliant, their daily reality includes food insecurity, inescapable violence and toxic stress, inadequate contact with positive role models, and low community expectations and prospects for success. Infinite Family’s network of global volunteer mentors provide an invaluable link between these township teens and the wider world to help them build skills and navigate the challenges they face during their school years … into the job market … and on to financial independence.Â
Why Donate to Infinite Family?
Young Black South Africans who work with Infinite Family all possess a drive to break through the poverty barrier and work to build better lives for themselves. To support their efforts, Infinite Family has made almost 40,000 video mentorship sessions available to teens across South Africa. Since 2013, 89% of our video mentored 12th grade students are among ‘first in family’ to attain college, then jobs not previously available to their parents. Video mentoring disrupts the poverty pipeline – the teens in our Infinite Family grow up to create opportunities and support their families.Â
