Mission Statement

Kieve Wavus Education empowers people to grow through experiential programs led by inspirational role models. Since the organization was founded in 1926, KWE has evolved into a wide-reaching education nonprofit that cultivates positive contributors to their communities.

Located on beautiful Damariscotta Lake in rural Midcoast Maine, KWE has three flagship programs across two main campuses: Camp Kieve for boys, Wavus Camp for girls, and The Leadership School, a teacher education program that teaches our experiential approach to social-emotional learning and environmental stewardship curriculums to Maine school communities. KWE also hosts a wide range of events for a diverse set of groups throughout the year.

All KWE programs are guided by our mission: to empower people to contribute positively to society by promoting the values of kindness, respect for others, and environmental stewardship through year-round experiential programs, camps for youth and adults, and guidance from inspirational role models.
