Mission Statement
Led by indigenous health workers, we provide comprehensive health care in Mayan languages to 20,000 patients a year in rural communities in Guatemala’s Central Highlands. We believe that high-quality care, health, and wellbeing should be within reach for everyone, no matter where they were born or what language they speak. Our program areas include women’s health, early childhood care and nutrition, maternal health, and chronic disease care.

Guatemala’s income distribution is among the most unequal in the world. More than half of Guatemala’s population speaks a Mayan language, but most health care is delivered in Spanish. Health outcomes reflect these disparities. For example, while 46% of children in Guatemala suffer from chronic malnutrition - an alarming number on its own - the rate is more than 80% in many rural, indigenous communities. We are a community-led organization that’s taking down the barriers creating these gaps. We provide quality care in patients’ own languages and homes. And we do it effectively: We collect data on everything we do so that we can figure out what’s working and improve what isn’t. In other words, you can be sure we will use your investment wisely.
