Mission Statement

To use data-driven analysis, clinical expertise and technological innovation to develop and sustain pioneering digital products and services that meet underserved needs and that improve the mental health of the UK population.

Why Donate Crypto to Mental Health Innovations?

Demand for mental health support continues to grow in the UK in 2022 despite the COVID pandemic now having less visible impact on our lives. The NHS Confederation and Royal College of Psychiatrists report that 1.6m people are waiting for specialised treatment and a further 8m people would benefit from support. This increased need is also reflected in younger audiences. NHS Digital reports that in the last five years rates of probable mental disorders have increased in under 16s from one in nine to one in six, and in 17-19 year olds from one in ten to one in six. For young people and their families, faster help is essential before a problem can build up.

Shout 85258 is the only 24/7 text messaging mental health support service, available for free to anyone across the UK. It is run by Mental Health Innovations, a charity established with seed funding from The Royal Foundation to develop innovative digital tools to support people struggling with their mental health. Shout is now four years old and in this time we have taken 1.4 million conversations and helped 450,000 people.

Shout provides immediate, ‘in the moment’ support to people grappling with issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship problems and self-harm. A third of our demand is from people who are experiencing suicidal thoughts. Each day, we are contacted around 20 times by people whose lives are at immediate risk. We are able to contact the emergency services on their behalf, and in this way we save lives every day.

Each conversation that Shout takes costs the charity £10 and with your help we can support more people at their point of need.

Save on your Taxes by Donating Crypto

Why Donate Crypto Directly? Taxes!

There’s a reason high net worth individuals tend to donate property instead of cash. Donating cryptocurrency directly to a 501c3 nonprofit is more tax efficient and can save you money.

The IRS classifies cryptocurrency as property for tax purposes which means it is typically the most tax efficient way to support your favorite cause. When donating crypto, you receive a tax deduction for the fair market value of the crypto, and you avoid the capital gains tax you would have incurred if you had sold the crypto and then made a donation. That means you’re able to donate more, as well as deduct more on your tax return. The difference? Sometimes more than 30%.

If you provide an email, you will automatically receive a tax receipt after donating.
