Mission Statement
The Refuge for Women mission is to empower sexually exploited women to live a life of freedom through faith-based, residential healing programs. The hope is that every women who is sexually exploited would have the hope, support, and tools needed to pursue her dreams and live a life of freedom.
In Kentucky, our mission is being carried out in our 24-apartment community near Lexington and our soon-to-be-open Emergency House located near Louisville. These two locations serve our residents in very distinct stages of their healing journey, crucial in their steps to freedom.

(Example: As of 2023, Kentucky is now a survivor-led organization with Deanna Lynn joining as the Executive Director, 12 years outside of the Refuge for Women home transforming her life.)
Holistic Support: We provide a supportive environment that focuses on mental, emotional, spiritual and physical well-being, ensuring that participants are well-equipped to face life’s challenges. (Example: One new resident moved in and, with the assistance of the Program Director, found a mentor to guide her as she faces change in her life.)
Community Integration: The goal is for graduates of our program to become active and contributing members of their communities, fostering a sense of belonging and mutual support. (Example: One prior resident recently reached out to say she was ready to start helping others like Refuge for Women helped her. She spoke at our most recent fundraising event to let people know that Refuge for Women helped her not only change the trajectory of her life but helped her to flourish as a productive and functioning wife, mother, dog mom, coworker, sister, and friend and to show up as her authentic self in those relationships.)
