Mission Statement
RYSE was founded in the early 2000’s by young people in Richmond and West Contra Costa County taking action to address the violence and lack of safety at school and in the community. For the past 20 years, RYSE young people from ages 13 to 21 have innovated and re-shaped their city across areas of media, creative arts, youth justice, healing justice, and youth-led power building.
Grounded in youth-designated values of creativity, shared power, self-determination and relationship-building, RYSE provides free and holistic programming and promotes multi-racial cross-cultural relationships and power. Every day, young people participate in activities ranging from individual therapeutic support, to drop-in culturally relevant workshops, to internships and fellowships. RYSE is a place rooted in legacy and vision for a better future, where young people learn and heal together as members of families, neighborhoods, and communities in which they hold influence. With this vision, RYSE obtained ownership of our 45,000 sq foot campus in 2020, with the commitment to be a youth-serving space for the next 100 years written into our deed.

Both center people—not institutions—as the drivers of equity, creativity, and possibility.
RYSE has long believed in ensuring that young people have full access to the resources that they need. Our Youth Emergency Fund was founded in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring acute housing, utility, food, transportation, and medical needs are met for young people in Richmond and West Contra Costa.
This flexible and direct resource is needed and must be sustained. By accepting cryptocurrency donations, RYSE will invest to create a flexible fund for emergency resources for years to come.
RYSE is committed to building financial sustainability for future generations while being responsible stewards of resources for the 1,000+ young people who walk through our doors each year. Cryptocurrency offers tools that can shift power, access, and control directly into the hands of young people and their communities.
By approaching it with education, sustainability, and community choice at the forefront, RYSE explores cryptocurrency as one more tool for building loving, just, and sustainable systems where youth feel powerful, safe, and heard.
