Mission Statement
The Doe Fund helps break devastating cycles of addiction, poverty, homelessness, and
recidivism. By investing in human capital, we transform oppressive systems while providing direct service to those impacted by them.Â
Why Donate to The Doe Fund, Inc.?
For more than 30 years, we have helped 29,000 individuals on their journeys of transformation. Our Ready, Willing & Able program provides paid work, housing, and support services to homeless and formerly incarcerated people.
Our social enterprises put over $8.5 million annually into the pockets of Ready, Willing & Able participants while generating over $10.4 million annually, demonstrating the significant return on investment that comes from human capital. These social enterprises include a street cleaning service that covers 115 miles throughout New York City.
Employment is the single most important factor in reducing recidivism, and we believe economic justice is crucial in achieving racial justice. Graduates of Ready, Willing & Able are 62% less likely to reenter the criminal justice system compared to demographically-identical individuals.
The program’s Work Works model has spread to seven communities across the country.
We also operate a growing portfolio of affordable and supportive housing throughout New York City, providing individuals and families facing economic hardship, recovering from homelessness and substance abuse, and living with physical disabilities, mental illness, and HIV/AIDS with access to state-of-the-art, safe homes with on-site social services.
