Veterans Bridge Home

Mission Statement

Veterans Bridge Home connects Veterans and their families, in any state of transition, to the community. Through our network of partners, we help Veterans navigate employment, create social connections, and settle their families. We look at the whole Veteran and connect them to the resources needed to be successful and thriving leaders in our community.

Organized as a 501(c)(3) in 2011, Veterans Bridge Home was one of the nation’s first veteran-serving organizations dedicated to harnessing the power of communities to connect Veterans and their families with the services, careers, and supports they need to continue to succeed after their service to our nation. Since the founding, VBH has been a national leader in this work, helping more than 10,000 individuals connect with more than 25,000 unique services including housing support, employment readiness, financial assistance and over 20 other human service needs.

According to the data collected by Syracuse University’s Institute for Veterans and Military Families, these numbers lead the nation among all of the organizations they track doing similar work. Recognizing their success in the Charlotte, N.C. region, in 2021 North Carolina’s Department of Health and Human Services asked VBH to expand their work across the state’s major metropolitan regions to ensure more veterans had access to this kind of tailored, locally-based care model.

Why Donate to Veterans Bridge Home?

Successful and rapid transition from military is the most effective way to counter the growing suicide trend among military veterans. Suicide among veterans is most closely related to the loss of identity and the stress of slow transition back into civilian life. Therefore the work VBH does to connect them with careers, access to the human services required to address their unique needs, and a robust network of other veterans all serve as “upstream” interventions to prevent suicide from becoming an option for veterans.

Help us continue to grow this work for the benefit of all of those who served.
